Meet Programme

Weekend Meets

The LTMC runs a programme of weekend meets running each month throughout the year, with the exception of July.  These events are greatly enjoyed by members and usually book up fast, as there are limited spaces available in the mountain huts or hostels that we use. We usually enjoy a communal meal together and transport arrangements are shared where possible. One meet per year is in a hotel, the rest are in mountain club huts or hostels. You can get a flavour of the variety of accommodation we use from the pictures on this page. Campervans can also be used, subject to certain conditions as detailed in our guidelines for meet coordinators.

Midweek meets 


 Midweek walks explore areas within easy reach of Edinburgh. They usually take place Tuesday - Thursday; occasionally on Mondays.

Safety in the hills

Members and friends are reminded of the following information which is printed on our membership card: "Mountaineering is a risk activity. Members make their own decisions and follow them at their own risk. The fundamental responsibility for having the appropriate equipment, skills and experience is your own. Members who invite guests should ensure they have the above information."

Saddle Mountain Hostel, Invergarry, August 2023 meet

Strawberry Cottage, Glen Affric. Remote, fairly basic, but a big favourite of our members. Our May 2024 meet was based here.

Braedownie Hut, Glen Clova. Newly built a few years ago  We returned to this venue in March of this year.

Blackrock Cottage, Glecoe. A long established favourite, venue of our December 2024 meet.
